Social Media Code of Conduct

Introduction

Our community is built on the values of respect, inclusivity, and open communication. This code of conduct outlines the expectations for behaviour within our community to ensure a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all members.

General Guidelines

1. Be respectful: Treat others with kindness, compassion, and understanding, even when disagreeing.
2. Communicate openly: Share thoughts and feelings directly and honestly, avoiding passive-aggressive behaviour.
3. Embrace diversity: Welcome and celebrate the diversity of our community, including different perspectives and opinions.
4. Take responsibility: Own your actions and apologize when needed.
5. Keep it relevant: Stay on topic and avoid promoting other communities or unrelated content.

Specific Guidelines

1. No political discussions: Refrain from discussing national or international political views, opinions or even facts. This group is NOT for politics.
2. Stick to facts: Refrain from conspiracies, incomplete, misleading statements or facts. Check your sources thoroughly before posting any content.
3. No promoting businesses: Refrain from promoting any business enterprise, initiative, social group, event or activity outside of the mandate of this group. If any member is eager to promote any such activity, seek prior written approval from the board of NCCWR and ask that the board publishes your promotions and content.
4. Choose your subgroups appropriately: There are subgroups for many identified major topic categories. Please restrict your communications to appropriate groups. Members either sign in or sign out from specific groups based on their interest in such topics. Writing irrelevant content is disrespectful to their wish, privacy and interest in the group.

Specific Expectations

1. No personal attacks: Refrain from criticizing or belittling individuals or their opinions.
2. No bullying or harassment: Do not intimidate, harass, or bully other members. Passive-aggressive comments will not be tolerated either.
3. No hate speech or discrimination: Do not promote hate speech, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group.
4. No spam or self-promotion: Avoid posting repetitive or promotional content without prior written approval from the board.
5. Respect group decisions: Adhere to decisions made by group administrators and moderators.

Consequences of Violating the Code of Conduct

1. Warning: First-time offences will receive a warning from group administrators or moderators.
2. Temporary suspension: Repeated offences may result in temporary suspension from the group.
3. Permanent removal: Severe or persistent violations may lead to permanent removal from the group.

Reporting Violations
If you witness or experience a violation of this code of conduct, please report it to a group administrator or moderator.

Amendments and Updates
This code of conduct may be updated or amended as needed to ensure the well-being and safety of our community.
